Now Two North Idaho

Rugby Clubs!

We are excited to announce that the Idaho Silverbacks Rugby Football Club of Coeur d’Alene now has a sister club next door in Post Falls called the Idaho Rampage Rugby Football Club!  “Rampage Rugby”, like it’s partner “Silverbacks Rugby”, will offer Flag Rugby for boys and girls ages 6-10, while also offering Tackle Rugby for boys and girls ages 11-18 right in Post Falls.  Rampage Rugby will also focus on a girls only team for the middle school and high school levels as well.  Both Clubs are members of Rugby Idaho and USA Rugby Youth & High School.

The season for both clubs starts about late January indoors for practicing and then moves to outdoors for the season to play here locally in North Idaho for the younger teams at the 12 year old level and travel a little bit outside of Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls, while our middle school and high school teams will compete here at home and across Idaho and Montana as well with some time in Washington.  The season ends at the end of May/first week of June before moving to All State for those boys and girls selected to play for the Idaho All State Teams.

The beauty of this sport is that it is really a mix of football, soccer and wrestling and every athlete plays in the games, no matter if you have years of experience or are starting out brand new!  We believe that every kid has talent and in many sports may have a chance to show it, while others may not be able to for a number of reasons.  We had over 100 young athletes in our Silverbacks Rugby club this first year and are excited for more athletes to join.

A new website for Idaho Rampage Rugby will be going live soon, as well as social media pages by September 1 as we get ready to open up registration and more.  If you have questions, please call (208) 770-0982 and ask for Marco for more information about both clubs.  Both clubs are open to all North Idaho families and we would love to have you join our Silverbacks Nation or Rampage Nation!

So what do I need

to know?

Rugby was founded in England in 1823 and is a popular school, professional, and olympic sport loved by billions of sport enthusiasts world-wide. It’s an exciting mix of Football, Soccer, and Wrestling which makes this sport great for everyone at all skill levels and all ages. Here in the USA, Rugby is the fastest growing youth and high school varsity and club sport for girls and boys with over 50,000 athletes registered with high schools and clubs just this last season.

The State of Idaho is at the forefront of that national explosion with state and national championship Rugby teams in South Idaho competing at the highest levels of the state and national Rugby scene. If you didn’t know, Rugby is a High School Varsity sport for Girls in Idaho and Boys Varsity is on the horizon…and the continued growth of this sport will be fueled by our club growing the sport in North Idaho. Rugby is a varsity sport and club sport for women and men at many universities and colleges offering partial and full-ride athletic scholarships to play.

Silverbacks RFC

teams.

We will have both U10 COED Flag Rugby teams and U12 COED tackle rugby teams at the elementary school level, as well as Tackle Rugby teams and at the middle school and high school levels.  As more athletes register, we will then have a better idea of the breakdown of our teams.  We are working this season to create a Girls team if possible at the middle school and high school level and will see as interest shows if that can happen this year.  Learn more about our Silverback RFC teams below.

Let's Give Them Something

to talk about...

We love to hear from parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends of the family, sponsors, coaches and athletes about why they love Rugby, our program, and more!

We Roam The Jungles Of

North Idaho.

The Silverbacks start to emerge from their shelter and cold North Idaho winters in the beginning of each new year to get ready for the upcoming Rugby season.  Our early/voluntary pre-season sessions will begin sometime in January with some free indoor opportunities to learn the basics about rugby or work on skill positions and levels. Practices for our High School teams will begin officially in early February with other teams to officially begin their practices in late February and early March.  Exact days of the week and times will be forthcoming.

For our athletes who are in the middle or towards the end of school-based sports or club-based sports, there is plenty of opportunity for them to slip into some voluntary trainings with us to get ready for the season. Once the season practices officially begin, if they are still wrapping up their previous sports, we are good with that and can find ways to work them in with the Silverbacks RFC until they can come in fully.  We will be practicing in Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls for our teams and all of our home matches and tournament matches will be in Coeur d’Alene.
